HPYB Code of Conduct

Hull Pirates Youth Basketball Code of Conduct

So that we can ensure a positive basketball experience for all participants in our program activities we have a Code of Conduct. All players, coaches, parents, guardians, and spectators must abide by the Code of Conduct when participating in HPYB program activities.

Players Code of Conduct

  1. Players will at all times be respectful of their coaches, fellow players, opponents, referees, scorekeepers, and all league officials.
  2. Players will maintain control of his/her emotions, avoiding the use of abusive language or profanity.
  3. Players will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.
  4. When the player is a spectator at another game, the player, will follow all building rules and regulations, respecting at all times the school property and the property of others.
  5. Players understand that inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in game(s) suspension from the players in-town or travel basketball activities.

Parents/Guardians Code of Conduct

  1. Parents will be positive role models by supporting and respecting all players, coaches, spectators, scorekeepers, referees, and league officials involved in our program.
  2. Parents agree to address all coaches, league officials, and referees in a respectful manner at all times.
  3. Parents will, to the best of their ability, have the player arrive on time for all games and practices and let the coach know in advance if the player will be absent or arriving late.
  4. Parents will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times and instill in their children the importance of displaying good sportsmanship and showing respect for the game, other players, coaches, referees, scorekeepers, and league officials. 
  5. Parents with issues are to first address the coach of the respective team. If you wish to not contact the coach directly you may contact the commissioner or coordinator of the respective league. The Commissioner or coordinator will then contact the Board of Directors if the issue still needs attention.
  6. Parents who violate this code of conduct or do not demonstrate good sportsmanship behavior are subject to any disciplinary action or penalty as seen fit by the Hull Pirates Youth Basketball Board of Directors.

Coaches Code of Conduct

  1. Coaches will be positive role models by supporting and respecting all players, coaches, parents, spectators, scorekeepers, referees, and league officials involved in our program.
  2. Coaches agree to address all players, coaches, parents, league officials, and referees in a respectful manner at all times.
  3. Coaches are responsible for demonstrating and ensuring that all members of the team and their fans practice good sportsmanship before, during and after the game.
  4. Coaches will support the referees and refrain from making derogatory comments towards them.
  5. Coaches will refrain from actions or words that undercut the self-esteem of players from their own team and opposite teams.
  6. Coaches will not allow players to make derogatory comments towards other players or officials.
  7. Coaches will support post-game nice game exchange between players and coaches.
