Hull Pirates Youth Basketball Game Rules

JUNIOR Intown Division

Regular Season and Playoffs

  •  The game will consist of two 20-minute run time halves; last two minutes of game are stop time. Substitutions only every 5 minutes. The game will be stopped at +/-5 minute marks, and everyone on the bench will go into the game. No team will have more than ten players.

  •  Every player must play a minimum of 10 minutes per half. Every player must sit for a minimum of 5 consecutive minutes per half (teams of 6 players must sit their best two players 2-1/2 consecutive minutes each).

  •  5 fouls per player per game. 7 team fouls result in one and one shooting, ten team fouls result in two shots. 
  • 4 timeouts per game 2-per half with no carryover. 

  •  Half-court man to man defense, everyone must be covering someone. No obvious double teaming outside the free-throw box. Help defense is allowed in the free throw box.

  • In the final 1 minutes of game, three-quarter man to man press defense is allowed, unless team is ahead by 10 or more points. Offensive team is allowed to inbound ball below the free throw line. Violation of defensive rules will result in a warning for the first offense. Subsequent offenses will result in a team technical foul.

  • Three-second rule is in effect. No three point shots.
  •  Some players will be allowed to move closer to basket during foul shots at commissioner and coaches discretion and agreement.

  • NO BASKETBALLS ARE TO BE BROUGHT TO GAMES BY PLAYERS, THEY MAY BE TAKEN AWAY FOR THE DAY

SENIOR Intown Division

Regular Season and Playoffs

  • The game will consist of four 7-minute stop time quarters, with substitutions only every 3-1/2 minutes in the first three quarters and free substitution in the last quarter. The game will be stopped mid-quarter for the first three quarters, and everyone on the bench will go into the game. No team will have more than ten players.

  • Every player must play a minimum of 7 minutes in the first half and 3-1/2 minutes in the second half. Every player must sit for a minimum of 3-1/2 minutes per FIRST half ONLY, unless they do not have enough players to do so (teams of 6 players sit their two best players 1-3/4 consecutive minutes each).
  • 5 fouls per player per game. 7 team fouls result in one and one shooting, ten team fouls result in two shots. 4 timeouts per game- 2 per half with no carryover.

  • Man to man defense must be played. Full court pressure is allowed, except when your team is ahead by 10 or more points. No zone traps. Except: In the final 3-1/2 minutes of game, any defense is allowed, including full court zone trapping.

  • Violation of defensive rules will result in a warning for the first offense. Subsequent offenses will result in a team technical foul. Isolation plays will not be allowed by the offense.

  • All official high school rules will be in effect.

  • NO BASKETBALLS ARE TO BE BROUGHT TO GAMES BY PLAYERS, THEY MAY BE TAKEN AWAY FOR THE DAY
